Supporting a person in your community who is suicidal

This booklet is to help you to: • Recognise the signs of suicide; and • Talk with someone you are worried about who may be thinking about suicide or showing signs of wanting to end their life. Most of the time, people who think about suicide don’t want to end their life, but they want the emotional pain (or the physical pain) to stop. Talking to someone about suicide is not easy. Knowing how to ask about suicide may help save someone’s life.
